SupremeCenter27 - HDD Replacement Scheduled

A maintenance of SupremeCenter27.com is scheduled for Monday, August 20th, between 09.00 and 11.00AM GMT (04.00 to 06.00 AM EST). During this period, a hard-disk-drive (HDD) of the server will be replaced with a new one and for that reason we expect about 2 hours of downtime for all services and websites hosted on the server.

We would like to assure you that the content that you have stored on that server is safe and we will do our best to minimize the downtime as much as possible.

Keep Software Installations Updated

Recently, we have mentioned increased hacker activity caused by non-updated versions of Joomla hosted by customers of ours in their hosting accounts. Our system administrators took the corresponding measures and launched protection purposed to prevent such activity from affecting our system. Anyway, there are customers using mod_rewrite and the protection may not work properly for them. That is why we would like to remind you that you must always keep your software installations up-to-date.

According to our Terms&Conditions, account that is not secure and is used to violate the system or network security, is subject of immediate suspension.

Additional information about the exploit is available at http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2005/2473

Supremecenter 26 Hard Drive Issues

Last week, Supremecenter 26 had a major hardware problem with the RAID array. The first of two hard drivers became non-operational and we had to install two new hard disks and sync the information between them and the second hard drive of the RAID array. During this time the server operated slowly since the sync procedure consumed a lot of CPU power.

Today during the regular RAID check-up we discovered a problem with it, which lead to file system failure. Right now, the server is operating from the old hard drive. Currently, the web content and the e-mails are from 3rd of February. We are restoring the data from a more recent backup (from 6th of February) and after the backup is restored the data will be copied and synced on the two new hard drivers.

Once the restoration and the synchronization are over the web content will be dated February 6th, and the e-mails will be from February 3rd. All MySQL databases have been restored and all of them are from 6th of February. It is possible to see web content from yesterday since your site might be restored from the backup already.
The whole procedure (backup restoration and synchronization) may take up to 36 hours.

Please, accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and trouble caused!

23/09/2006 Downtime - flooded transfer switch inside the DC building.

As you probably noticed on 23 September the following servers were down for about 6 hours:

supremecenter38
supremecenter39
supremecenter40
supremecenter41
supremecenter42
supremecenter301

The downtime was caused by a power loss. Here is the information that we received from our datacenter:

“The transformer room for the building, where our transfer switch is located is flooded.
From what I’ve been able to gather, is that the building’s fire suppression system has malfunctioned and is pumping water into the underground transformer room, and has caused our equipment, as well as our utility provider’s equipment Centerpoint, to automatically shutdown to avoid damage.

The Houston Fire Department is at the scene now attempting to shut off water flow and pump the water out, so that Centerpoint can begin work on restoring power.”

The datacenter was able to resolve the issue and now the power has been restored. All servers are up and runing.
